Novice Family Team Event (description)

This event is in the programme for this Olympic year to help encourage as many children as possible to take part in an Aquathlon /Triathlon event.
The Other member of the Team is there to support, encourage and help the young person complete the course.
This is a NOVICE event and there are no positions given in the results just times.

The rules for the event are:

* Child competitor between the age of 8yrs-14yrs
* Team member can be a parent, an adult family member, brother or sister, over the age of 16yrs.
* Both Team members must start and finish the event together.
* The competitor must complete a minimum of half the course e.g. 25m swim of 50m course, 1 lap course of a 2 lap cycle course etc.
* The Team member can only complete a maximum of half the course in each section.

The Team member has a supportive, encouragement roll.

The competitor can complete a whole section (e.g. swim & the run) with just help on the cycle with the team member taking on a lap alongside or instead of the competitor..

So if the competitor can only manage 1 lap of the run, then the team member completes the first, giving the competitor a rest and then change over for the 2nd lap (remember the Team member must complete the last few metres into the finish as well).

Ideally the competitor would complete the whole course with the Team member joining in some of the sections.

Clearly there will be a need for TWO cycles if the event is a Triathlon.

Race number will be worn by the competitor, the same number will be body marked on the Team member.
