Rye Children's Triathlon Race Instructions (Provisional)

This event is part of the 'Kidstri' series of event during 2012 in the Sussex area.

VENUE

This is Rye College and Leisure Centre (Freedom Leisure).

09.00 Registration opens

10.30 Triathlon registration closes
10.15 Race Briefing by transition/ finish area, then on to the poolside.
11.00 Race start
11.45 Medals to all Novice race competitors. (by the podium)
13.00 expected event finish
13.15 Medals & Prizes (Tristar1,2,3) - by the podium.

 

ARRIVAL

Parking at the leisure centre/college is limited at the front and car par charges do apply, but these are refundable at the leisure centre reception. More parking is available around the other side of the college (please see map). If these are full there is further parking across the railway line in the town, very closes.

REGISTRATION

This will be in the leisure centre reception area, next to the cafe counter (Costa coffee- mums and dads!)

Each competitor will receive:

  • a goodie bag, containing a label with your race number for your cycle and cycle helmet.
  • one race number to b worn on the FRONT of the running/cycling top.
  • competitors will have a colored wrist band to wear during the event.
  • Day Race Licence (or you will show your current BTF licence and receive your refund)
  • You will be 'Body marked' with your race number on your upper LEFT ARM and LEFT CALF

Cycles to be placed into transition AFTER registration and MUST have the race number label attached to your cycle before entry on the cross-bar and on the front of the cycle helmet.

Remember to bring your BTF race licence with your to get your £1 refund. Failure to do so, the refund cannot be made.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

RACE BRIEFING

This will be held down next to the the cycle transition area, to start, then move up to the poolside to continue.

TRANSITION 1 (poolside)

this is were the training shoes will be placed, poolside, together with the t-shirt and towel etc. As the run to the cycle transition is down steps and on tarmac shoes MUST be worn.
Children will be asked to lay out their kit prior to the start of their age group, or before if space allows.

Swimming Section

The children will be divided into groups of their colour start (Colour of wrist band) and will start in waves of eight swimming two to a lane. There will be a marshal to help count the lengths and children will be given a sign at 2 lengths to go. Tumble turning is allowed under certain conditions- speak to Race Organiser.

TRANSITION

After putting on shoes (ensuring laces are tied) and t-shirt fully on with the race number on the FRONT, exit via the fire exit at the deep end opposite the gallery.
CARE: steps down to ground level. Run to the cycle transition area along marked path turning left into the sports field and to cycle transition. Enter via 'SWIM IN'

CYCLE SECTION

On reaching your cycle:
* FIRST put on your cycle Helmet
* Run (not ride) to the 'Bike Out' and mount in
the marked box.
*
Cycle the correct number of laps.
* Dismount in the marked box.
* Run/walk with cycle to your marked area.
* Lay down cycle and remove cycle helmet.
* Exit on to the run through 'Run Out'

RUN SECTION

Each lap is 500m- that is an 'Out and Back'= 500m = 1 lap
On leaving the transition area take a wrist band.
Collect a wrist band each time you start a lap. So bands collected equal the number of laps completed.

On completion of correct number of laps take route to the finish line.

FINISH

The finish awaits the competitor and the reward of an event medal, a drink and the roar of the crowd. The Timekeeper should be able to give you your time at the finish, a few seconds after you cross the line.

RESULTS

There will be interim results available after the last competitor has crossed the line, these will be to determine the prize winners. The full interim results will be posted on the web on the same evening. Any issues are to be raised with the race organiser ASAP. On the following Wednesday the results will be declared final.

TOILETS
These will be in the Leisure Centre

FIRST AID
Supplied by St Johns Ambulance and will be positioned in the field next to the cycle transition area.

CATERING
Cafe at the leisure centre reception with Costa coffee.

PUBLIC ADDRESS
Music and commentary through the event will start at 11am, please listen out for announcements that may affect the race, we will try and give you a name check around the course.
